Introducing – Joe Jhutty, Technical Director

Joe JhuttyWe are proud to announce the Mainland Athletics Soccer Academy long-term player development program will be guided under the technical direction of Joe Jhutty.

Currently, Joe is the Senior Coaching Clinic Instructor and Grassroots tutor with the British Columbia Soccer Association. Joe has played a vital role in the development and implementation of player and coaching development programs across the province for over 30 years.

In 2012, the Vancouver Whitecaps, together with BC Soccer, recognized and thanked Joe for over 30 years of dedication to coaching and training others in BC as an Outstanding Coaching Facilitator.

In 2008 he was the recipient of the AC Sanford Award from BC Soccer, which is presented to an individual in recognition of exceptional service to soccer in British Columbia over a period of 20 years or more.

Joe’s soccer career began in his birth country of India, where he played professionally for the Border Security Force (BSF) and Punjab Police. He represented his country and played on the India National Team from 1970 – 73.

His love for the beautiful game continued when he came to Canada, where he began his coaching career. He is a former BC Provincial Head Coach, having past involvement in the U14 and U16 programs. As the head coach of the U17 Provincial team, Joe won a Canadian National Championship.

On a club level, in the late 90’s, as the head coach of Indo FC, Joe was instrumental to the club’s first promotion to the Premier League of the Vancouver Metro Soccer League. The following year, he coached the team to winning the Imperial Cup, the league championship.

Joe Jhutty’s highest coaching designation is B-National.
